The Crusaders won the first two sets, 25-21, 25-22, before dropping the third and fourth sets, 10-25, 21-25. In the decisive fifth set, Groton-Dunstable prevailed 15-11.

Second-seeded Groton-Dunstable improved its record to 19-2. The Crusaders will play top-seeded Canton (19-2) in the sectional final at Wellesley High School on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Alexis Millett (serving), Lauren Kenney (setting), Lily Blodget (hitting) and Peter White (digging/defense) led the way for the Crusaders.

“They all played great,” said G-D coach Lori Herberich. “They stuck together. They were digging balls, hitting well and blocking well. We were mentally tough, especially in the fifth set. They played like a team.”
