STANFORD, Calif. (AP) _ Anita Kaplan scored 19 points, all in the first half, as No. 4 Stanford routed No. 20 Southern California 109-53 Saturday night.

Stanford (16-1, 7-0 in the Pacific-10) won its 14th straight game. The 56-point margin of victory was its largest ever in a league game.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Southern Cal (11-5, 4-4).

The Trojans shot just 25.9 percent for the game. Stanford held Southern Cal to just three points in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

Bobbie Kelsey added 16 points for Stanford, while freshamn Kristin Folkl had 13 points and Heather Owen and Naomi Mulitauaopele each scored 11.

Tina Thompson and Audry Gomez each had 15 points for Southern Cal.

Stanford jumped out to an early 8-0 lead on a pair of 3-pointers by Kate Paye and Kelsey, and a basket by Kaplan.

Southern Cal came as close as three points in the first period, at 16-13, on a 3-pointer by Jody Anton with 13:27 left. But the Cardinal took off on a 20-4 run to take a 40-17 lead with 6:52 remaining.

Stanford’s leading scorer, sophomore forward Kate Starbird, played only 17 minutes. She did not play Thursday night in an 88-49 victory over UCLA because of a groin pull.

Stanford’s only loss of the season came Dec. 1 when it fell to then-No. 1 Tennessee 105-69.
