ATLANTA (AP) _ Mark Lazarus was promoted to president of Turner Sports on Tuesday. He replaces Harvey Schiller, who quit last week and is in line to become president of the Yankees-Nets business venture.

Lazarus had been executive vice president of Turner Sports Sales. He will report to Steven Heyer, president and chief operating officer, Turner Broadcasting System Inc., a division of Time Warner Inc.

Stan Kasten, the president of baseball's Atlanta Braves and the NBA's Atlanta Hawks, will succeed Schiller as the person in charge of the NHL's expansion Thrashers.

Bradley Siegel, president of general entertainment networks for Turner Broadcasting, will take over Schiller's responsibility for World Championship Wrestling.

Schiller, the former head of the U.S. Olympic Committee, told TBS last Friday he was resigning. The Yankees-Nets venture is called YankeeNets, the holding company that will run the merged business operations of the baseball and NBA franchises.
