LOWELL -- The rough homestand continued for Lowell as the Spinners dropped their fourth straight game, 5-1, to the State College Spikes on Saturay night.

Lowell is now 21-20.

The Spinners sent their ace, Eduard Bazardo, out to the hill and he delivered a solid performance in five innings. He struck out five and walked one but surrendered two earned runs on five hits. His offense struggled to get him any run support as he picked up the loss.

A special milestone was reached in the bottom of the sixth when Jarren Duran roped his 10th triple of the season, breaking the franchise single-season record previously held by Michael Myers in 2014.

Xavier LeGrant put the Spinners on the board with a sacrifice fly, cutting the lead to 2-1.

After Kris Jackson kept it close for the Spinners with two innings of scoreless relief, the Spikes jumped on Andrew Politi for three runs in the top of the ninth, shutting the door on any rally the Spinners could have had.

The homestand ends on Sunday with Brian Brown taking the mound for Lowell. First pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. against State College.
