Suspect in Burlington shooting arrested in Georgia
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — A suspect wanted in connection with a March shooting in Burlington that critically injured a man has been arrested in the state of Georgia.
The Burlington Police Department said Tuesday that 37-year-old Alfred Leon Wisher was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in conjunction with the Savannah, Georgia, police department on Monday evening.
Wisher is accused of shooting 28-year-old Khyann Jones in the head. Authorities say the shooting took place after Jones and Wisher had a brief exchange of words.
Police say Jones fled. They said they learned that he was living in Savannah under an alias.
He’s in custody in Georgia and will be returned to Vermont to face a charge of attempted murder.
It’s not immediately known if he’s being represented by an attorney.
