Sumner’s 35 points lead Ants over Herd
Edmond Sumner scored 35 points to lead the Mad Ants to a 122-115 victory over the Wisconsin Herd on Wednesday night in front of an announced crowd of 2,319 fans at Menominee Nation Arena in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Sumner, on assignment from the NBA’s Indiana Pacers, made 3 of 7 shots from 3-point range.
Alize Johnson, a rookie second-round pick of the Pacers, had 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Mad Ants (3-1), who have won three straight games.
In three games with Fort Wayne, he’s averaging 15 rebounds.
Ben Moore added 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Mad Ants, who used a Sumner 3-pointer with 4:38 remaining in the fourth quarter to kick-start an 11-3 run that gave them an insurmountable lead at 115-102.
Davon Reed added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Mad Ants, who face the Maine Red Claws on Friday in Portland, Maine.
Wisconsin (1-3) was paced by James Young’s 27 points and Sterling Brown’s 23.
Sumner came into the night averaging 17 points in the first two games of this season.
