Carol Louise Schiers Carol Schiers, 69, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2018. She was born on February 19, 1949 in Pocatello, Idaho to Melvin and Geraldine Schiers. Carol was a school addict, always learning. She attended college at Long Beach City College receiving a two year associate’s degree in the arts. She attended eight different colleges; too many courses to mention. She was married for 27 years to James Modica. Carol worked as a claims adjuster and investigator until cancer struck. She also owned her own business on Main Street, for several years; “Mind Your Own Beadness”, enjoying the friendships that were made with those she came in contact with. She was a member of the Stated Women’s Long Beach City College and belonged to the ISU Women’s Studies program. Carol enjoyed all glass jewelry making, running with the Long Beach Track Team, out rigger rowing; in the ocean, kick boxing, Tai Kwon Do, hiking, bowling, soft ball, ping pong and tennis. Carol is survived by her husband, James Modica, Pocatello; daughter, Gabriel MaCarty, Pocatello; granddaughter, Devon MaCarty, L.A. California; sister, Melonie Burleson, Pocatello; and two grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 1-3 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
