SW Connecticut a residential boom market in 2019?
The Fairfield County area could rank among the three most-improved markets in the country for home sales, according to Realtor.com estimates published Wednesday predicting gains in transactions and prices.
The Bridgeport-Stamford area could see a 5 percent increase in sales and a 4 percent bump in prices next year, Realtor.com forecasts, with only two other markets in line for bigger increases across both measures in Chattanooga, Tenn. and Lakeland, Fla. Among major Northeast markets, only Boston is positioned for a bigger increase in prices at 4.6 percent, with no Northeast community seeing a bigger gain in sale transactions than southwestern Connecticut.
The New Haven-Milford area is expected to see a similar gain in transactions, but a smaller selling price on average at 2.9 percent, with Hartford in line for declines on both measures.
Realtor.com expects Augusta, Ga. to register the biggest surge in home sales next year at 8.8 percent, with Honolulu trailing the nation with a 7.9 percent decline.
