Plaque dedicated at Ft. McPherson Cemetery
Steven Wier-Santos, assistant director of Ft. McPherson National Cemetery, left, dedicated a plaque near the main entrance of the cemetery at noon on Wednesday. He is pictured here with his staff. The plaque honors those “who gave the ultimate sacrifice” to their country, and their families that they left behind. Wier-Santos said a similar plaque is being installed at all 136 national cemeteries of the Veterans Administration. The ceremony was timed to coincide with the arrival of a “Carry the Load” team at the Omaha National Cemetery. The team is hiking 3,900 miles from Minneapolis to Dallas to honor military members and first responders who were killed in the line of duty, and their families.
