Farish Pays $370,000 for Princess Polonia
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) _ William S. Farish paid a top price of $370,000 at the Keeneland Breeding Stock Sale on Thursday for a 6-year-old broodmare in foal to stakes winner Meadowlake.
Highclere, the agency for the Estate of Dr. Louis Aitken, sold Princess Polonia, a stakes winner of $455,213 during her racing career. She is by Danzig out of My Celebrity by Sir Ivor.
A weanling colt by Gilded Time out of Ten Toes brought the second-highest price of the day. Leo J. Hamel paid $240,000 for the colt, sold by Ben P. Walden Jr.
Keeneland sold 271 horses Thursday for $11,365,700, an average of $41,940. After five days of the 11-day auction, 1,323 horses have been sold for $143,570,200, an average of $108,519.
With six days remaining, gross sales top by $1.4 million the total dollar volume for the entire auction last November.
