Marine Art Museum sets opening for new exhibitions
WINONA — The Minnesota Marine Art Museum begins the new year with two new temporary exhibitions.
“Upstream,” featuring ceramic works by Minnesota artist Anna Metcalfe, opens Friday and runs through May 5. Metcalfe’s work looks at the relationship between landscape and water.
“Maria Svarbova: Swimming Pool” opens Jan. 25 and runs through April 28. This is the first American solo exhibition by the Slovakian photographer. The exhibition consists of photographs of socialist-era swimming pools in Slovaka, in a style that is both retro and futuristic.
An opening reception for both exhibitions is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 24. Admission is free for members and students, $10 for non-members.
In addition, Metcalfe will give a gallery talk at 1 p.m. Feb. 2. Admission is free.
The Minnesota Marine Art Museum is located at 800 Riverview Drive in Winona.
