Convicted felon charged with possession in Stamford
STAMFORD — A convicted felon on probation for a gun offense was found in possession of cocaine and marijuana on Tuesday, according to city police.
Denzel Riddick was charged with possession of narcotics and possession of more than half an ounce of marijuana. His age and address were not provided by police.
Stamford police officers were in the area of Cove Road and Frederick Street on a quality of life detail when they spotted a traffic violation. The officers stopped the vehicle and immediately smelled marijuana, said a news release from Lt. Michael A. Noto.
The driver, later identified as Riddick, told the officers he smoked marijuana earlier in the day and had some in his vehicle. Noto said he also told the officers he had cocaine on his person.
The officers confiscated the cocaine — two grams — and 21 baggies of marijuana — 21 grams. Riddick was taken into custody and brought to booking to be charged.
Riddick, currently on probation on a gun offense, is being held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 13.
“We are extremely proud of Officers Williams and Kokkoros and their proactive police work,” Noto said. “Day in and day out these officers make a difference on the East Side of Stamford. Stamford is a safer place today because of these officers.”
