Three Arrested In Animal Deaths
BOONVILLE, Ind. (AP) _ Three youngsters suspected of beating 19 petting zoo animals to death were being held Sunday in the Warrick County Jail.
Authorities found 19 of the 21 animals in the Scales Lake Park Petting Zoo beaten to death Thursday with a fence post. Among the animals were 13 chickens, four peacocks, a goat and a turkey.
Two goats survived the attack.
The local humane society offered a $500 reward, and Warrick County authorities on Saturday arrested the three Boonville youngsters, whose names were not released because they are juveniles.
Warrick County Sheriff Jeff Gore said he had written confessions from two of the youngsters, and the third had asked to see an attorney.
They were expected to be formally charged Monday, officials said.
