20 Killed in Bolivia Truck Accident
LA PAZ, Bolivia (AP) _ A truck carrying passengers careened over a cliff in the Bolivian Andes Monday, killing 20 people and injuring 10 others, police said.
One passenger survived by jumping from the vehicle before it tumbled 200 feet down a mountainside, said Police chief Col. Raul Guardia.
Police did not disclose what caused the crash, saying an investigation was under way.
Rescuers recovered the bodies late Monday and brought them back to La Paz, 55 miles to the south.
The twisting mountain road connecting La Paz to the tropical region of Los Yungas has been labeled by the Bolivian media as ``the highway of death″ because of an especially high number of accidents along it.
