Driver accused of running over woman who was left paralyzed
RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont driver has pleaded not guilty to charges that she ran over another woman who was left paralyzed.
The Rutland Herald reports police responded to a report Nov. 16 that a truck struck a woman and dragged her on Route 30 in Pawlet. They found a severely injured 38-year-old woman and took her to a hospital.
Police found a truck and traced it to 39-year-old Deanna Mach, of Pawlet. They also learned the two women knew each other. Court records show Mach was arraigned in January on two misdemeanor counts of domestic assault against the woman. The charges were dismissed in June.
Mach was released Tuesday on charges of aggravated domestic assault, grossly negligent driving that resulted in a serious injury, and leaving the scene of a crash.
