MEN’S BAKSETBALL Sacred Heart tops Hartford
FAIRFIELD — Six players scored in double figures and the Sacred Heart men’s basketball team shot 58.6 percent from the floor in a 98-89 non-league win over Hartford Tuesday night at the Pitt Center.
Four of Sacred Heart’s five starters reached double digits in scoring: Sean Hoehn (22 points), Jare’l Spellman (15), Kinnon LaRose (14) and Aaron Clarke (11). Cameron Parker posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Zach Pfaffenberger chipped in 10 points off the bench in the win.
The Pioneers (3-4) outrebounded the Hawks (2-6), 43-23, led by Parker and LaRose (nine rebounds).
Sacred Heart converted 34 of 58 field goals in the game, including 22 of 36 (61.1 percent) in the first half to take a 49-41 halftime lead.
John Carroll scored a game-high 26 points and Jason Dunne added 25 points in the loss for Hartford.
