TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) _ Steve Englehart threw two touchdown passes, including a 40-yard scoring strike with 6:01 left, to give Indiana State a 19-14 win over Southern Illinois on Saturday.

Englehart, who finished the game 6-of-16 for 110 yards, led Indiana State (2-2, 1-0 Gateway Conference) on a five-play, 51-yard drive to pull out the win after Sam Wilkerson returned an interception 37 yards for a Southern Illinois (1-2, 0-1) touchdown.

The Indiana State defense held Southern Illinois to 187 yards total offense, including just 68 yards through the air. Southern Illinois’ only score on offense was a 6-yard touchdown pass from Marcus Capone to Mike Green with 10:00 left in the fourth quarter.

Southern Illinois quarterbacks Kent Skornia and Capone combined for 11-of-23 passing and three interceptions. Their longest completion was 13 yards.

The Sycamores opened up a 13-0 lead in the first quarter after Scott Colllins hit field goals of 37 and 47 yards, and Englehart hit Calvin Thomas for a 12-yard touchdown.

Collins also missed field goals of 36, 48 and 44 yards.
