Car fire closes I-84 westbound

NEWTOWN — A car fire closed parts of I-84 Monday morning, according to state police.

The right lane of the westbound stretch of the highway was closed between exits 10 and 9 after a car spontaneously burst into flames.

Police said the incident occurred around 6:25 a.m. at the on-ramp at Exit 10.

A dispatcher for State Police Troop A said crews are working to combat the flames. There have been no reports of injuries.
