Seat From Missing Plane Found
BENICARLO, Spain (AP) _ Fishermen off Spain’s eastern coast found a seat Wednesday from a chartered plane that disappeared over the Mediterranean Sea last week with eight Americans aboard.
Hauling in nets, the crew of a fishing boat discovered the bottom half of a seat, with the safety belt and a long strip of aluminum attached to it, the Civil Guard said.
Serial numbers indicated the seat came from a small plane that disappeared Oct. 10 while flying from Spain to Algeria. Other debris was found Friday, and the search for survivors was called off Saturday.
The plane was carrying seven employees and a partner in Consolidated Restorations Systems Inc., a mechanical engineering company based in Fairfield, Conn. The pilot and co-pilot were Spaniards.
