COLUMBUS _ Records show that a man charged with lying to federal agents about being a missing child from Illinois was also accused of making up stories while in prison. Ohio prison disciplinary reports say 23-year-old Brian Rini concocted a story about an attack by other inmates and threatened to make a false rape claim against a guard. The reports obtained by The Associated Press also show Rini lied about being short of toilet paper and falsely accused an inmate of tampering with his food. By Andrew Welsh-Huggins. COLUMBUS _ Ohio’s governor says he will sign a bill imposing one of the nation’s toughest abortion restrictions. Republican Gov. Mike DeWine says he will follow through on his pledge to sign the heartbeat bill Thursday. The bill cleared the state Legislature on Wednesday. By Julie Carr Smyth. SENT: 130 words. _ BOY’S REMAINS ID’D-CHARGES: The caregivers for a 4-year-old boy whose remains were found in a garbage bag in the backyard of a vacant Cleveland home have pleaded not guilty to charges including murder.

_ CHILD SLAIN-LAWSUIT: The father of a 4-year-old Ohio girl who authorities say died from abuse by her mother and the mother’s boyfriend has filed a lawsuit accusing Cuyahoga County social workers and employees at private day care centers of failing to protect her.

_ BOAT CAPSIZES-MAN DIES: Authorities say they believe a man who died when a boat he was in capsized on Acton Lake at Hueston Woods Park might have experienced a medical emergency when he went into the water.

_ COLLAPSED TRENCH-WORKER DEATH: Authorities say a trench where a worker was replacing culverts in Marysville collapsed, and the worker has died.




AUSTIN, Texas _ Texas freshman forward Jaxson Hayes will hire an agent and enter the NBA draft. Hayes is projected as first-round pick and would be the third consecutive Texas big man to leave for the NBA after one season, following Jarrett Allen and Mo Bamba. By Jim Vertuno.
