Cops: Girl, 17, charged after posting gun picture and threat
SALISBURY, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say a 17-year-old girl in North Carolina has been arrested after she posted a photo with several guns and made a threat toward her high school.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office told media outlets that the East Rowan High School student posted a picture of a pistol, shotgun and two rifles on Saturday, writing “school finna be lit.”
The teen was charged with a felony — making a false report of mass violence on an educational property and misdemeanor communicating threats. It wasn’t known if she had a lawyer.
Deputies say the girl told officers she was just making a joke.
Investigators say several students and teachers at the school called police after seeing the post.
