Woman struck and killed by car during fight in Cleveland’s Bellaire-Puritas neighborhood

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Homicide detectives are investigating after a car struck and killed a woman during a fight Monday in Cleveland’s Bellaire-Puritas neighborhood, police said.

The 40-year-old woman was fighting another person when a car struck her about 5:45 p.m. on Astor Avenue near West 137th Street, police said. She died after being taken to Fairview Hospital.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released her name.

A 32-year-old woman who was driving the car turned herself in later Monday at the First District police station. She received medical treatment for glass on her face.

The 32-year-old woman has not been charged with a crime, Cleveland Municipal Court records show.

The incident is still being investigated, police said.
