Aiken man charged in connection with assault of pregnant woman
An Aiken man was charged Monday in connection to a domestic incident in June, which involved a 31-year-old pregnant woman.
Devin Dashawn Williams, 23, is charged with second-degree domestic violence, according to jail records.
He is also on a hold for the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services.
On June 2, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on Silver Bluff Road around 8:30 p.m. in reference to a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, investigators spoke with the victim who claimed the suspect had physically assaulted her during an altercation.
The victim also said she was six months pregnant at the time.
She claimed the suspect jumped on her while she was sitting down, and punched her in the face and stomach with a closed fist.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
Deputies reported both of the victim’s eyes were swollen, which was consistent with being struck in the face. EMS transported her to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for Williams’ arrest following the incident. He was arrested Monday and taken to the Aiken County detention center, where he was still being held Tuesday afternoon.
