NEW MILFORD — A local man is due in court Tuesday after police said he was caught with crack-cocaine last week.

Felix Rios, 36, was charged with possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop on Bennitt Street last Friday.

Rios was a passenger in a 2002 Nissan Maxima police stopped for unilluminated headlights and taillights.

With the help of K-9 Kira, police found four grams of crack-cocaine in the vehicle.

Police arrested Rios after determining the drugs were his.

Lt. Lawrence Ash said crack-cocaine is not an uncommon substance for New Milford police to catch people with.

Rios was charged with the class A misdemeanor and released after posting $1,000 bond.

He is scheduled for arraignment at Torrington Superior Court on Tuesday.
