MIAMI (AP) _ Ismael Valdes helped end his four-game losing streak with his first major league RBI, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Florida Marlins 5-3 Friday night for their third straight win.

Valdes (6-6) gave up four hits in eight innings and allowed one unearned run. He struck out six, walked three and retired 11 in a row in the middle innings.

Valdes, who dropped a 5-2 decision to Florida and Pat Rapp (4-6) last Sunday, won five consecutive starts with a 1.71 ERA from June 1 to 23. He then lost four straight with a 7.04 ERA.

This time, Valdes topped Rapp on the mound and at the plate. Valdes, who had not driven in a run in 33 at-bats in the majors, capped a two-run sixth with an RBI single that chased Rapp.

Todd Worrell, the Dodgers’ third pitcher, got two outs for his 15th save, and his third in three days. He gave up Alex Arias’ RBI single and Chuck Carr’s RBI double.

Roberto Kelly ended an 0-for-20 slump with a two-run single during a three-run fourth inning. Rookie infielder Chad Fonville had three hits for the Dodgers.

Jose Offerman walked in the fourth, and a soft single by Raul Mondesi and a bloop hit by Mike Piazza tied it at 1. Two outs later, Kelly singled sharply.

The Dodgers made it 5-1 in the sixth on two-out singles by Dave Hansen, Kelly, Fonville and Valdes.

The Marlins took a 1-0 lead in the third as Jerry Browne walked and scored when Terry Pendleton’s single was mishandled by Kelly in center.
