Interim sheriff to address Florence County Council
FLORENCE, S.C. – Interim Florence County Sheriff William C. “Billy” Barnes is expected to address the Florence County Council Thursday morning.
On the agenda for the monthly meeting of the council is an appearance by Barnes to “reintroduce” himself to the council.
Barnes, who served as sheriff from 1973 to 1993, was appointed interim Florence County sheriff by Gov. Henry McMaster on April 24. On that day, Attorney General Alan Wilson announced indictments against Florence County Sheriff Kenney Boone. Boone was arrested and arraigned before Richland County Judge DeAndrea G. Benjamin on that Wednesday.
