Titans’ McNair Sits Out Practice

September 16, 1999

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Steve McNair, with some mild stiffness and spasms in his lower back, watched practice Thursday, but is expected to play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

``This was a precautionary thing based on what happened last month,″ said coach Jeff Fisher. ``We felt if a day’s rest is going to help him to better prepare himself for this weekend, then it made sense to do it.″

McNair missed two weeks of practice during training camp with spasms and stiffness in his back. He has been wearing a brace around his lower back. He threw for a career-high 341 yards in the Titans’ season opener and led them to a 36-35 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
