Icy road conditions causing numerous wrecks in Missouri
ODESSA, Mo. (AP) — A Kansas City school bus overturned on slick roads as freezing drizzle caused dangerous conditions in parts of Missouri.
A Center School District bus carrying three students, a monitor and the driver overturned in south Kansas City Wednesday afternoon. A district spokeswoman said everyone was able to get off the bus and the students went home with parents.
Schools were canceling classes and evening events across the region.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says two people from Illinois died Tuesday night when a car slid into the path of a tractor-trailer on an ice-covered stretch of Interstate 70 in Lafayette County. The victims were Wendy Rios, of Altamont, and Kaleb Huddlestun, of Effingham.
Police say a 69-year-old woman was severely injured in Raytown early Wednesday when a truck treating a school parking lot hit her.
