New name, big race for Lake Havasu City BMX this weekend
The BMX park at SARA Park has a new name, but will host the same big competitions, beginning with a state qualifier this weekend.
The recently resurfaced track is changing its name from SARA Park BMX to Lake Havasu City BMX.
“It’s to be more involved with the city,” Davi Millsaps said.
The track will host a state qualifier race on Saturday, with registration at 4 p.m. and the first races scheduled to start at 7 p.m. They are expecting about 200 racers from around Arizona to participate.
This is one of the final races of the season ahead of the state final at Black Mountain BMX in Phoenix next month.
The track unveiled a podium with the new branding on Thursday. The podium which was donated by businesses from around the city, will be a new permanent feature of the track.
