WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Clinton today deplored a Palestinian grenade attack in Israel and said it had complicated Mideast peace negotiations on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
The president said negotiators were having a tough time.
``The issues are difficult. The distrust is deep. The going has been tough. But the parties must consider the consequences of failure″ as well as the benefits of progress, he said.
Clinton spoke with reporters on the South Lawn before boarding a helicopter to fly out to the negotiations between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
