Volleyball Appoints New Executive
LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) _ Jean-Pierre Seppey, a 41-year-old Swiss lawyer, was hired Tuesday as general manager of the International Volleyball Federation.
Seppey will be in charge of finance management, personnel and other services at federation headquarters in Lausanne, FIVB president Ruben Acosta said.
The creation of the general manager’s post came following the decision of Franz Schmied to give up his duties as treasurer, a position he held since 1978.
Seppey is founder of the Post Swiss cycling team. He also was general secretary of Sion’s unsuccessful bid for the 2006 Winter Olympics.
