Wildcats display weapons against Cougars in annual affair

RB Christian Lovick’s 53-yard catch-and-run TD highlighted the night for Tomball Memorial head coach Sam Parker’s offense.

The Wildcats beat the Cougars 41-18, Aug. 31, at Tomball ISD Stadium.

Athlete Jorden Gidrey got the first touchdown of the game with a short TD run. Logan Kyle’s 13-yard reception pushed the lead to 13-3 with 4:47 to play in the half.

Tomball Memorial scored on its first drive in the second half to go up 20-3 when RB Colbie Habermacher checked in and scored. He had 150 rushing yards and two TDs.

Tomball tried to get back in the ball game after a TD from Hunter Dunn to Kasen Handal. The Wildcats were still on top 20-10 with 1:13 left in the third quarter.

Lovick then scored on a 47-yard run to bring the lead to 27-10 with 11:42 left in the game. He finished with 241 total yards, 158 rush yards and 83 receiving yards.

A 50-yard reception by Kyle led to a 1-yard TD run by Lovick. He had 119 receiving yards. The Wildcats were rolling 34-10.

Crusaders take step back in season opener

St. John’s beat Concordia Lutheran 41-21, Aug. 31, at Tomball Concordia Lutheran.

Brett Simcox finished with 244 passing yards and three TDs for the Crusaders. Colin Howard caught all three TD passes, finished with 218 receiving yards.

Howard had TD catches of 53, 49 and 83 yards.

Concordia Lutheran rushed for 100 yards, Ben Singer had 50 of them. They finished with 322 total yards to St. John’s 399.

Wesley Gow and Malcolm Sturgis each had two TDs for St. John’s.

Eagles take care of business

Rosehill Christin beat Northside HomeSchool 61-0, Aug. 31., at home.

The Eagles scored 16 points in the first quarter, 17 in the second and 14 in the last two.

Trevor Manning and Jake Howorth each threw a TD pass.

Hans Barrios rushed for two TDs and Ben Nicholson and Kyle Floris each caught a TD pass.
