Weather woes: Officials warn of health risks in water supply
HORACE, N.D. (AP) — Officials in a city located in the Fargo metropolitan area are warning of potential health risks to the water supply because freezing conditions caused a loss of pressure to the distribution system.
KFGO radio reports that residents in Horace, southwest of Fargo, are being told to boil tap water until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms that may be in the water.
The city says the potential exists for contamination of the drinking water with disease-causing microorganisms which can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms.
Officials say only bottled water should be used for preparing infant formula.
