Cyclist struck, killed crossing street in Spokane
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A cyclist was struck and killed while crossing Division Street in Spokane, Washington.
The Spokesman-Review reports that just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to reports of a collision between a vehicle and a cyclist at the intersection of Division and Providence Avenue.
Witnesses told the Spokane Police Department that the male cyclist was crossing the street when he was hit by the vehicle in the center southbound lane.
Crossing at the intersection - which is bisected by a concrete barrier - is illegal for both vehicles and pedestrians.
The cyclist was not wearing a helmet.
Off-duty police department and medical personnel stopped to help, but the cyclist was declared dead at the scene.
