Zoning Board forces Stamford sidewalk repair payment
STAMFORD — The Zoning Board this week threatened to take a nearly $200,000 bond for sidewalk repairs after developer Tom Rich failed to install new sidewalks along Bedford Street within a window approved by the board. Rich, in an email Tuesday, said it was an oversight and pledged to send the city money for sidewalk repairs. The deal and subsequent payment pursuit showcases the Zoning Board’s renewed attention to transportation upgrades and follow through. Rich had completed part of the east side of Bedford Street from North Street to Walton Place, but did not finish the block — posting a bond and saying money would be furnished by the end of last year. The city, with the money, will do the work.
