Utah and Washington play for Pac-12 title...Wizards’ Howard to miss 2-3 months after surgery
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — No. 17 Utah plays No. 10 Washington tonight for the Pac-12 title and a trip to the Rose Bowl. The two teams met previously on Sept. 15, with the Huskies winning 21-7 at Utah. It’s the first time since 2010 that Washington will play the same team twice in a year. Utah last had a rematch during the season in 1945 against Denver.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Wizards center Dwight Howard is expected to miss two to three months after undergoing spinal surgery to relieve pain in his glutes. The team says Howard underwent a lumbar microdiscotemy today in California and will be re-evaluated in two to three months. Doctors determined a herniated disk was causing Howard’s gluteal pain and nerve irritation.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Thunder guard Andre Roberson has had another setback while rehabbing his left knee injury and he will miss at least another six weeks. The team says Roberson had a basketball workout yesterday and felt discomfort when he came down from jumping. An MRI showed a small avulsion fracture in his left knee.
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — Sam Darnold is questionable for the New York Jets’ game Sunday at Tennessee. The rookie quarterback has missed the past two games with a strain in his right foot. Meanwhile, backup Josh McCown was a full participant at practice today after being limited during the week. He has been dealing with a sore hand and back. His
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars could be without two starting defensive backs Sunday against Indianapolis. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey and safety Tashaun Gipson are listed as questionable on the team’s injury report. Ramsey and Gipson didn’t practice Wednesday and yesterday, but were limited participants today.
