Bell, Earnhardt will start on front row in Go Bowling 250 Xfinity race
Christopher Bell claimed the pole for the Go Bowling 250 at Richmond Raceway, the first race in the Xfinity Series playoffs.
The bigger surprise, however, was who will start second: two-time Xfinity champion Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Earnhardt, who stepped away from full-time racing after last season, is making his first NASCAR start of the year.
Bell earned his fourth Xfinity pole of the season and is seeking an Xfinity season sweep at Richmond.
Rounding out the top five are Ross Chastain, Cole Custer and Justin Allgaier.
Emporia native Elliott Sadler will start 13th after just missing the final round of qualifying, but he told NBC Sports he’s enthusiastic about the car’s speed during longer runs.
British driver Katherine Legge qualified 32nd in her third Xfinity Series start; she finished 30th at Mid-Ohio and 14th at Road America. A WeatherTech SportsCar Championship veteran, Legge finished third at Virginia International Raceway last month.
