Police identify person of interest in hit and run crash that injured 7 year-old girl

ST. CHARLES – The Kane County Sheriff’s Department has identified a person of interest involved in a hit and run crash Sunday that seriously injured a 7 year-old St. Charles girl.

Police are searching for Brian Quartuccio, 42, who lives in the area of the crash but have not confirmed an exact address, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Lexi Hanson, a second grader at Anderson Elementary School in St. Charles, suffered several broken bones, a spinal injury and cuts and bruises after she was struck while riding her bike around 1 p.m. Sunday on Geneva Avenue near the intersection of Courier Avenue in St. Charles Township.

Lexi was airlifted from the scene to Lutheran General Hospital, where she is expected to remain for several days or even weeks, according to a family member.

According to police, a black Dodge pickup was traveling on Geneva Avenue when it struck the girl. The truck fled the scene but was located abandoned a few blocks from the location. It is believed the driver fled the area on foot.
