A statue near Boathouse Row ended up in the Schuylkill River overnight in what appears to be an act of vandalism.

The statue — a tribute to Thorfinn Karlsefni, a Viking explorer — appears to have been yanked off its pedestal with a rope and is now submerged in the river, police told 6ABC. Philadelphia police did not return an immediate request for comment Tuesday morning.
