Minor league ‘bat dog’ tries to take player’s bat before at-bat over

August 29, 2018

Who needs a bat boy when you can train a dog to do the same job? Well, maybe this is why.

Like some minor league teams, the Single-A Greensboro Grasshoppers employ a dog theirs is named “Miss Lou Lou Gehrig” to retrieve players’ bats after at-bats.

This Grasshoppers batter set his bat down in the middle of an at-bat for an unknown reason, triggering Miss Lou Lou Gehrig to come fetch it.

Don’t tease Miss Lou Lou Gehrig like that! 😂 #MiLB (🎥 @gsohoppers ) A post shared by Minor League Baseball (@milb) on Aug 27, 2018 at 9:12am PDT

That was one committed dog, especially in the way that it decided to come back for one more try.
