Orangemen wrestlers finish 4th at home invite

The Beatrice wrestling team finished fourth at their home invite on Saturday at the Ozone in Beatrice.

The Orangemen finished with 177.5 points, which put them behind meet champion Marysville, Kan. (231.5) as well as Lexington (229) and Papillion-La Vista South (227)

Beatrice finished ahead of Lincoln Southeast (154), Lincoln Northeast (110), Mount Michael (59) and Omaha Gross (5).

Beatrice had two individual champions as well as two runner-up finishes.

Tanner York won the 113-pound division. He won his first match by pinfall over Marysville’s Elise Rose and his second match by 10-0 major decision over PapillionLa Vista South’s Liam Barlow. In his championship bout, York defeated Ehat Batterton of Lincoln Southeast by pinfall at the 4:52 mark.

Drew Arnold won the championship in the 120-pound division. HE got a pinfall win over Papillion-La Vista South’s Stone Sindelar in the first round, a 15-0 tech fall over Mount Michael’s Cole McNally in the second round and a pinfall win over Lexington’s Ean Bailey in the third round.

In his semifinal, Arnold won an 11-4 major decision over Arman Erickson of Lincoln Southeast. In his championship bout, he defeated Isaac Novotny of Marysville by pin at the 1:41 mark.

Trevor Reinke notched a runner-up finish in the 126-pound division. He won his first two matches by pinfall and then won a 5-1 decision in the semifinals.

In his championship match, He lost a tiebreaker to Ethan Crownover of Marysville.

Cole Maschmann finished runner-up in the 138-pound division. He picked up wins by decision in his first two matches and then picked up pinfall wins in his next two matches.

In his championship match, Maschmann lost by pinfall to Marysville’s Jonny Crome.

Torrance Keehn finished third in the 170-pound division. He lost his first rond match, but then notched a pinfall win before receiving a third round bye. He won his third place match by pinfall over Lincoln Southeast’s Max McClatchey.

Zach Markey finished third in the 195-pound division. He won his first match by pin fall and won his second match by 5-3 decision.

After losing by pin fall to Marysville’s Garron Champoux in the third round, Markey defeated Lexington’s Cody Wolf by pinfall in his third place match.

Brody Nelson won his first match by pinfall, but then lost a 6-2 decision in the second round. He forfeited his third place match due to illness.

Jackson Zhang finished fourth in the 220-pound division while Jarrett Koch finished fifth in the 145-pouind division, Coleton Williamson finished fifth in the 152-pound division and Dakota Adams finished fifth in the 182-pound division.

Marysville picked up individual championships from Ethan Crownover in the 126-pound division, Jonny Crome in the 138-pound division, Storm Slupianek in the 170-pound division and Garron Champoux in the 195-pound division.

The Bulldogs got a runner-up finishes from Derek Roever in the 152-pound division and third place finishes from Kaleb Parker, Jack Lott, Noah Ackerman and Joey Bockin.

Beatrice will travel to a dual at Nebraska City on Thursday and then will travel to the River Cities Conference Tournament at Roncalli on Saturday.
