Big plays leads to votes for LSWA players of the week
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Big plays highlighted the weekly selection of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Louisiana college football players of the week.
Elijah McGuire of Louisiana-Lafayette had a 68-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter of the Cajuns 28-23 win over South Alabama. He rushed for 223 yards in the game and earned offensive player of the week.
Arden Key of LSU had two more sacks against Mississippi State in LSU’s 23-20 win over the Bulldogs and his five sacks for the season, leads the SEC. Key was named defensive player of the week.
Willie Quinn of Southern was all over the field in the Jaguars 64-6 home win over Alabama State, but it was his punt return of 78 yards which earned the special teams notice.
