CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Evan Kruczynski pitched seven shutout innings and East Carolina scored seven runs in the eighth inning Friday night to beat Bryant 9-1 in the Charlottesville Regional.

Kruczynski (7-1) allowed six hits, struck out six and walked three. He came out after the Pirates sent 10 batters to the plate in the eighth.

James Karinchak (12-3) worked 6 1/3 innings for Bryant, allowing a tie-breaking sacrifice fly to Bryce Harman in the seventh. The Bulldogs' ace allowed just three hits, struck out eight and walked four.

Harman, Garrett Brooks and pinch-hitter Kirk Morgan each drove in a pair of runs for East Carolina (35-21-1), which will face defending national champion Virginia in the winner's bracket on Saturday. The Bulldogs (47-11), who haven't lost two straight all season, will face William & Mary, which lost 17-4 to the host Cavaliers.

The Pirates took two of three from Virginia earlier this season.
