Whoopi Goldberg, ‘The View’ co-hosts rip Elizabeth Warren for Fox News town hall snub
Whoopi Goldberg and her co-hosts on ABC’s “The View” were in rare political agreement over Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s refusal to appear on Fox News town halls.
The Massachusetts Democrat rubbed all of her natural liberal allies on “The View” the wrong way this week by avoiding Fox under the auspices that it’s a “hate-for-profit racket.”
Ms. Goldberg, Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin agreed with Republican co-host Meghan McCain that it was “shortsighted” for Ms. Warren to avoid the cable news giant.
“I think that it’s being very dismissive of so many Americans for her not to go on Fox News,” Ms. Hostin said. “Fox News was the top basic cable in April. It finished in 2018 as the most watched basic cable network for the third consecutive year in both primetime and total-day viewers. I think if you want to be the president of the United States, for everyone, then you need to speak to everyone.”
“If you can’t face the Fox audience, you can’t face the U.S. It’s that simple,” Ms. Goldberg added.
Ms. Warren insisted Tuesday that her campaign is aimed at “all Americans” just not those, for all intents and purposes, who want to see her answer questions on Fox.
“Fox News is welcome to come to my events just like any other outlet,” she said as part of a series of tweets. “But a Fox News town hall adds money to the hate-for-profit machine. To which I say: hard pass. I’m running a campaign to reach all Americans. I take questions from the press and voters everywhere I go.”
They don’t agree often. All @TheView hosts ripped @ewarren for refusing to go on Fox News.“If you can’t face the Fox audience, you can’t face the U.S.,” Whoopi Goldberg said. “It’s that simple.” pic.twitter.com/7Gexmb26hO David Rutz (@DavidRutz) May 15, 2019
