Police Log: Sweet smell coming from U-Haul believed to be drugs

These logs are the highlights of initial emergency calls and reports to the Douglas County Dispatch Center. They do not represent all of the incidents or their final outcomes.



Douglas County sheriff

8:34 a.m. — Two Akita dogs are running loose and being aggressive in the 400 block of Evelyn Street, Roseburg. The caller said someone needs to get the dogs under control or he will shoot them.

8:53 a.m. — Unattended death reported in the 200 block of Anne Avenue, Drain.

10:47 a.m. — Sex crimes reported in Camas Valley.

12:01 p.m. — A cow is stuck in a pond and is up to his shoulders in water and mud near the intersection of Goodrich Highway and Glennan Ponds Lane, Oakland.

2:26 p.m. — Caller received a fraudulent letter from Verizon in the 2200 block of Ireland Road, Tenmile.

4:11 p.m. — An Oregon State Trooper needs backup after pulling over a driver who has multiple weapons in the vehicle on Highway 101 near milepost 215, Winchester Bay.

5:05 p.m. — Caller heard a gunshot that sounded like it was right above her head in the 3500 block of Cow Creek Road, Riddle.

6:54 p.m. — Caller’s 6-year-old brother is out of control and keeps climbing into his mother’s car and honking the horn in the 30 block of Ashwood Lane, Idleyld Park.

7:28 p.m. — Caller can smell something sweet coming from a parked U-Haul and believes someone is cooking drugs inside in the 100 block of D Street, Riddle.


9:43 a.m. — Driver crashed into a power pole and is out of the vehicle and holding her elbow in the 400 block of Northeast Brosi Orchard Road, Winston.


12:42 p.m. — Thick smoke is pouring out of the bathroom in the 2500 block of Landers Avenue, Roseburg.

Douglas County sheriff

Joshua Josiah Demuth, 40, of Hillsboro, on suspicion of two counts of identity theft and two counts of second-degree theft.

Roseburg police

Tesha Irene Galaktionoff, 33, of Roseburg, on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespass, two counts of second-degree failure to appear and for failing to appear on a criminal citation.

Steven Allen Standley, 64, of Roseburg, on suspicion of second-degree theft, second-degree criminal trespass and a parole violation.
