Century High School graduation candidates

Century High School’s commencement will be 7 p.m. today at Mayo Civic Center, 30 Civic Center Drive SE, Rochester.

Top honor students

Brooks Boie

Son of Eric Boie and Jennifer Lisowe. Activities and academic achievements include: Boys Swim and Dive (Varsity, Captain), Clay Target Team, Honor Society, Rochester Swim Club (2009-2018), National Merit Scholarship Finalist, Academic All American, Big 9 Scholar, National Latin Exam Summa Cum Laude (2016-2018). Volunteer efforts include: Honor Society, Dominican Republic Missions Trip (2017) with Calvary Evangelical Free Church, Operation Christmas Child and Feed My Starving Children with Calvary Evangelical Free Church. Brooks will attend Iowa State University for Civil Engineering or Construction Management.

Annie Cho

Daughter of Hee Sung Kim and Yong Yeon Cho. Madeleine Fingerson

Rachel Folkert

Daughter of Burnell Folkert and Sue Kramer-Folkert. Activities and academic achievements include: Science Olympiad, Drumline, Literary Club, Concert and Marching Band, Prairie Fire Theatre, Distinction in Science Award, Top in Category Award at the Rochester Regional Science and Engineering Fair, two Silver Awards and one Gold Award in the National Spanish Exam, Student of the Month both in Science and Spanish, Silver Award in the National Latin Exam. Volunteer efforts: Meals on Wheels volunteer for over 10 years, church lector, church play and church youth band, mission trip to Colorado, raising money and awareness for cancer research — including the Fools Five Road Race, the Eagles Cancer Telethon, and Relay for Life. Rachel will pursue a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree at the University of Minnesota-Rochester.

Emma Kartheiser

Volunteer efforts: working with elementary aged kids for after school programs, helping with various food banks. Emma will attend Carleton College, studying Pre-med courses while playing intercollegiate softball at Carleton.

Activities and academic achievements include: Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Octagon Club, Art Club, MSHSL Section 1AA Best of Show for Video Art, 1st Place Winner of the Century Short Film Festival 2019, Student of the Month twice, Presidential Honor Scholarship. Volunteer efforts: made blankets for Ronald McDonald House in Octagon Club, tutored students at Kellogg Middle School, CPB Relay for Life Concert. Gabriella will major in Art: I Design at Winona State University.

Blake Larson

Son of Dean and Kris Larson. Activities and academic achievements include: Century Boys’ Soccer, Euro Soccer Club, Century Honors Society, Octagon Club, Zumbro Lutheran Church, Honors Diploma, 4.0 GPA. Volunteer efforts: Community Food Response, Frozen Goose Race, Turkey Trot, Gateway Science Fair, Salvation Army Bell Ringing. Blake will study Engineering at Montana State University.

Madison Leske

Daughter of Lorie Leske and David Leske. Activities and academic achievements include: Art Club, ASL Club, Link Crew, lettered in Art, double lettered in Band, Marching Band Mural. Volunteer efforts: Relay For Life, Feed My Starving Children, Litter Bit Better. Madison plans to major in Art: Three-Dimensional Studies at Brigham Young University-Idaho.

Michelle Mai

Daughter of Ming Mai and Liqin Wang. Activities and academic achievements include: Varsity Swim, STEM Society, UNICEF, Olmsted County Youth Commission, Piano, Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholar, Coca-Cola Scholar, Intel ISEF Finalist, National Merit Finalist, NISCA All-American Academic Scholar, Rochester Chamber Music Society Board, Volunteer efforts: Mayo Clinic Young Volunteers, Run for Rochester Founder, Nursing Home Volunteer, Century Honors Society. Michelle plans to double major in Heath and Human Biology and an independent concentration at Brown University while on a pre-med track.

Ethan Manuell

Son of Lila Manuell and Jeffrey Manuell. Activities and academic achievements include: Cross Country, Track and Field, Bands and Drumline, LINK Crew, Century Honors Society, placed second nationally as part of the selective No Barriers Global Impact Challenge Century team, second place winner in the student category for Oticon Focus on People Awards Nationwide Competition, Big 9 conference scholar athlete, Student of the Month. Volunteer efforts: percussionist for Calvary Evangelical Free Worship Ministry Band and Youth Group Band, tutored at Lincoln Elementary School, Operation Christmas Child, Christmas Anonymous, Naturalist at Quarry Hill Nature Center. Evan Maraganore

Nathan Schatz

Son of David and Angela Schatz.
