Expect Delays on Route 3 This Week
LOWELL -- Late-night Route 3 drivers should expect to see lane closures and roadblocks through the end of the week, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
The construction will impact northbound and southbound lanes in Lowell, Billerica, Bedford and Burlington, according to a press release.
Lane closures will be put in place each evening, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., and rolling roadblocks will be used after midnight. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.
Specifically, Route 3 southbound between exits 27 and 26 will be impacted Tuesday night. The northbound lanes between the Route 128/I-95 interchange and Exit 32 will be impacted Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.
MassDOT encourages drivers to reduce speed through this zone and allow for extra travel time. Work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
The construction is part of $2.8 million project to install new variable messages signs and Intelligent Transportation Systems, according to the release.
