Snowboard dies from injuries sustained at Seven Springs

A snowboarder was pronounced dead Thursday after injuring himself at Seven Springs Mountain Resort.

Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees said Matthew Camacho-Cook, 35, of Crescent, was snowboarding when he hit his head at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 27 at the resort. Camancho-Cook was transported to the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center intensive care unit in Johnstown.

“The cause of death was blunt force trauma, and it was accidental,” Lees said in a telephone call with the Daily American.

Camacho-Cook was pronounced dead at 11:27 a.m. Thursday because of his injuries. Lees said he was wearing a helmet at the time of the fall.
