Suspicions grow as Baltimore mayor’s leave drags on
BALTIMORE (AP) — Embattled Mayor Catherine Pugh has been on leave for a month amid an accelerating scandal that has left her deeply isolated and politically vulnerable.
Her lawyer has repeatedly said she’s in such fragile health that she isn’t able to think clearly enough to make decisions about the future.
But nearly a week after FBI and IRS agents raided her homes and City Hall offices, numerous citizens and fellow Democrats perceive her indefinite leave at home with suspicion. Many are asking why she isn’t hospitalized.
One lawmaker wants her lawyer to provide a statement from a doctor as to her actual medical diagnosis, mental and physical.
