Scottsbluff man accused of pulling knife, threatening another man
SCOTTSBLUFF - A 47-year-old Scottsbluff man faces charges after allegedly threatening another man with a knife.
Brandon J. Pate has been charged with terroristic threats, a Class IIIA felony; use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, a Class II felony; and possession of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, a Class III felony. Pate was arraigned Monday on charges in Scotts Bluff County Court.
Scottsbluff Police arrested Pate after responding to a report in the area of Park Street of a man chasing another man with a knife. Upon arrival, police observed a man, later identified as Pate, as walking away from the scene and made contact with him after numerous witnesses identified him as the man in question.
The reported victim told police he had confronted Pate at a park, alleging the man may have been urinating in the park. Pate allegedly pulled a knife, threatening to slit the man’s throat and chased him a short distance while slashing the knife at the other man.
Police later viewed security camera footage of the incident.
While searching Pate, an officer located four knives on the man, including one in his jacket, and a smoking device that smelled of burnt marijuana. Pate is a convicted felon and not allowed to be in possession of the weapon.
